1970-71.
During ANTHONY J. ABATE'S term es Faithful Navigator,
the assembly sponsored a series of lectures on the lives of the Apostles,
and began the practice of presenting a book on Catholic history to the
McNeese State University Library in honor of each deceased member.
The assembly Color Corps mounted a Guard
of Honor at the dedication of the new Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church, and
sponsored a Red Mass in collaboration with the Southwest Louisiana Bar
Association.
The assembly co-sponsored a Columbus Day
program in collaboration with Third Degree councils of the assembly area
and the Knights of Peter Claver.
Dr. Filipo Anfuso of New Orleans, Consul
General of Italy, was the guest speaker at the annual anniversary banquet,
dedicated to Christopher Columbus. There was no Exemplification of the
Fourth Degree held during Faithful Navigator Abate's term.
